Overview

Cavero Hunter fully automates seven Hunter methods: Bird Snares, Box Traps (chinchompas), Net Traps (salamanders), Butterfly Net, Falconry, Aerial Fishing and Wilderness black chinchompas. You pick a method, mark the tiles you want trapped, press start, and it handles placement, resetting, inventory management, banking and — for the Wilderness — PvP safety.

What it does for you

  • Places, resets and collapses traps on the tiles you mark
  • Auto-drops junk loot per a configurable drop list
  • Optional 3-tick manipulation on trap methods and Aerial Fishing
  • Banks Falconry & Wilderness sessions when inventory fills
  • Eats, hops worlds, and walks out of Wilderness safely when threatened

What you still do manually

  • Meet the quest and level requirements for your chosen method (Eagles' Peak for Falconry/Aerial, Druidic Ritual for swamp salamanders, etc.)
  • Mark the trap tiles (right-click menu) — per method, persisted across sessions
  • Configure the Wilderness loadout if you're going for black chins

Quick start

  1. Open the side panel and pick your method from the dropdown.
  2. Mark your trap tiles — see Placing trap tiles. Butterfly Net uses a different "Set Butterfly Center" tile when radius mode is on.
  3. Tune the method-specific options — 3-tick, progressive Falconry, banking, radius, etc. (see Configuration reference).
  4. Set your drop list & free slots — defaults cover junk furs, bones, raw meat; you can add whatever you want to auto-drop.
  5. Hit ▶ START.

Wilderness chins (and Butterfly Net / Salamanders) need their loadout configured before starting — that's what the plugin re-equips after every bank trip. Loadouts are saved per RSN, so you do this once per character.

Optional: set Stop at Level in the panel to a target Hunter level — the plugin will pause itself the moment you hit it, handy for goal-bound sessions.

Supported methods

Bird Snares

Crimson Swift, Golden Warbler, Copper Longtail, Cerulean Twitch and Tropical Wagtail. Extra toggles: catch butterflies while traps reload (with a butterfly-species picker — same list as the Butterfly Net method), auto-bury bones, and an optional radius mode so you can pin the catch zone to a centre tile while traps reset.

Box Traps — chinchompas

Grey, Red and Black chinchompas. Supports 3-tick manipulation for top XP rates.

Net Traps — salamanders

Green, Orange, Red, Black and Tecu salamanders. Uses the player's configured loadout for the salamander area.

Butterfly Net

Ruby Harvest (15), Sapphire Glacialis (25), Snowy Knight (35), Black Warlock (45), Sunlight Moth (65) and Moonlight Moth (75). Optional butterfly-jar auto-catch, optional radius mode so the plugin stays near a tile you pick.

Falconry

Spotted (43), Dark (57) and Dashing (69) Kebbit. Progressive mode auto-selects the best kebbit for your Hunter level. Optional banking pays the quick-hire NPC (coins withdrawn from bank when you drop below 500 gp). A Bury Bones toggle is available here too — useful for the Prayer XP on kebbit bones.

Aerial Fishing

Cormorant fishing with optional pre-cut fish (3-tick speed) or quick-cut fish (multiple per tick). The two options are mutually exclusive.

Wilderness black chinchompas

PvP-aware hunting at the Wilderness chin location. See Wilderness safety for the full list of defensive features. The plugin banks at Edgeville when you hit the configured chin cap. 3-tick manipulation is available here too — toggle it in the Wildy settings card; the item-detection rules are identical to the standard chinchompa method (see 3-tick manipulation).

Placing trap tiles

Trap positions aren't preset — you pick them. For every trap-based method the plugin adds a right-click menu entry to the ground:

  • [CAVERO] Add Tile — mark a tile for this method
  • [CAVERO] Remove Tile — clear a previously-marked tile
  • [CAVERO] Set Butterfly Center — only for Butterfly Net or Bird Snares when radius mode is on; pins where the plugin chases butterflies between catches

Tiles are saved per method: switching from Bird Snares to Chinchompas loads that method's own set of tiles. They persist across sessions. Use Clear Saved Tiles in the panel to reset the current method's tiles.

How many tiles?

Match your Hunter level's trap count. Below 20: one trap. 20–39: two. 40–59: three. 60–79: four. 80+: five. Bird snares and chinchompas scale the same way.

3-tick manipulation

Toggle Enable 3-tick in the method panel and stock one of three item combinations in your inventory. The plugin auto-detects which is available and uses it on every trap reset:

  • Knife + Teak logs — makes teak stocks as a byproduct (auto-dropped)
  • Knife + Mahogany logs — makes mahogany stocks as a byproduct
  • Pestle & Mortar + Swamp tar + clean herb (Guam, Marrentill, Tarromin or Harralander) — makes herb tar; needs at least 15 swamp tar

The knife-log combos drop the crafted stocks automatically. Grimy herbs work too — the plugin cleans them on the fly. If items run out mid-session the plugin logs a warning and keeps trapping at the normal cadence.

Aerial Fishing has its own 3-tick: Pre-cut Fish cuts fish one tick ahead so the catch lands on the 3-tick cycle.

Wilderness safety

Wilderness chins is the one method that can actually lose you gear, so it gets its own defence layer. All of this is on by default; tune the thresholds in the Wildy section of the config.

Auto-hop

The plugin watches for attackable players entering your combat-level range. When one spawns, auto-hop kicks in instantly — before you're in PJ range — and moves you to a fresh world.

Teleblock detection

If you catch a teleblock the plugin stops trying to teleport and walks to Edgeville bank instead. The escape is robust to short walks but you can still die if the PKer chases with enough gear — treat it as a last-ditch safety net, not immunity.

Auto-eat

Configurable HP threshold (default 50). When your HP drops below it during the escape route, the plugin eats the first food item with an Eat action from your inventory. Set it to 0 to disable eating entirely.

Chin cap & banking

Max chins (default 100) caps how many chins you collect before the plugin teleports or walks to Edgeville bank. After banking it re-validates your loadout — notably that a charged Amulet of Glory is equipped — deposits junk, and heads back into the hunting spot.

Side panel

The plugin's side panel gives you:

  • Header card — Cavero logo, plugin version, running/paused dot, runtime clock
  • Pause / Start button▶ START the first time, ⏸ PAUSE while running, ▶ RESUME after a pause
  • Status card — what the plugin is currently doing, updated live
  • Stats cards — METHOD, TRAPS (active / saved), HUNTER LVL, XP GAINED, XP / HR, CAUGHT, CAUGHT / HR
  • Stop at Level card — enter a target Hunter level and click SUBMIT to have the plugin pause itself when you hit it. 0 disables. The field rejects values below your current Hunter level (the threshold would never fire) and clamps to 1–126.
  • Configuration (collapsible)
    • Method picker + Clear Saved Tiles (also clears the live trap tracker so counts don't go stale)
    • Method-specific card — only the options relevant to the active method (3-tick, progressive, radius, Wildy safety, etc.). Switches automatically when you change method.
    • Loadout sub-card — present on Butterfly Net, Wilderness chins and Salamanders. Click CONFIGURE LOADOUT to edit gear & inventory. Loadouts are saved per RuneScape name, so each character has its own.
    • Inventory (sub-section) — minimum free slots and drop list
  • System (collapsible) — heap memory bar, active threads, CPU cores, Java version, OS (diagnostic)

Everything refreshes roughly every 200 ms while the plugin is running.

Configuration reference

General

  • Hunting method — picks the active method
  • Clear saved tiles — wipes the current method's tile list and clears the live trap tracker so counts don't go stale
  • Stop at Hunter level (0–126; 0 disables) — auto-pauses the plugin when your Hunter level reaches the threshold. Edited from the panel's Stop at Level card; values below your current level are rejected.
  • Debug console — log viewer + crash reporter

Aerial Fishing

  • Pre-cut fish (default on) — 3-tick style pre-cut
  • Quick-cut fish — multi-cut per tick; mutually exclusive with pre-cut

Butterfly Net

  • Butterfly — target species
  • Using butterfly jar — auto-jar caught butterflies
  • Use radius + radius (1–25) — stay within N tiles of the center tile
  • Min / Max tick delay (0–10) — random delay between catches

Birds

  • Butterfly — species to catch while traps reload (shared dropdown with Butterfly Net)
  • Catch butterflies — enables the side-activity between trap resets
  • Bury bones
  • Use radius + Radius (1–25) — when on, the plugin stays within N tiles of the centre tile set via [CAVERO] Set Butterfly Center

Falconry

  • Kebbit — target species
  • Progressive — auto-picks the best kebbit for your level
  • Enable banking — bank when inventory is full or coins drop below 500 gp
  • Bury bones — also exposed here, for the Prayer XP on kebbit bones

Chinchompas

  • Enable 3-tick

Wilderness black chins

  • Enable 3-tick — same item rules as the Chinchompas method
  • Auto-hop — hop on attackable-player detection
  • Min HP to eat (0–99) — 0 disables eating
  • Max black chins (1–10000) — bank after this many

Loadouts

The Butterfly Net, Wilderness chins and Salamanders methods each have a Loadout sub-card with a CONFIGURE LOADOUT button that opens the Storm loadout editor. The plugin uses the loadout to verify gear is equipped on start and re-equip it after bank trips (e.g. after the Wilderness chin cap fires). Loadouts are saved per RSN — switching characters loads the matching loadout automatically.

Inventory

  • Min inventory space (1–25) — free slots to maintain
  • Drop list — comma-separated names of items to auto-drop. Default covers bones, raw bird meat, swamp lizard, salamander variants, kebbit furs and raw dashing kebbit.

Tips & gotchas

  • Quests come first — Falconry/Aerial need Eagles' Peak; Swamp salamanders need Druidic Ritual. The plugin won't progress you through them.
  • 3-tick is graceful — if it runs out of items it just drops back to normal cadence; you don't lose the session.
  • Tile count should match your Hunter level — see the tip in Placing trap tiles.
  • Wildy glory must be charged — an uncharged Glory will fail the escape-teleport; the plugin expects at least 1 charge in the ring/amulet.
  • Black chins take real risk — auto-hop is fast but not instant; keep your risk to what you can afford to lose.
  • Pre-cut vs quick-cut on Aerial — pre-cut is best for XP/hr; quick-cut is easier on input but caps lower.
  • Butterfly radius — set the center tile before enabling radius; without one the plugin wanders. Birds with radius mode behaves the same.
  • Set Stop at Level when goal-grinding — saves you babysitting a session; the plugin auto-pauses the tick after the level-up.
  • Loadouts are per RSN — configure once per character (Butterfly Net, Wildy and Salamanders). The plugin re-loads the right one when you log in.

Troubleshooting

Plugin isn't placing traps

Confirm your Hunter level supports the trap count, and that you've marked tiles with [CAVERO] Add Tile. The panel's TRAPS card shows the active-vs-saved split — if saved is 0, no tiles are set.

Falconry stops after a few minutes

The Quick-Falcon NPC charges coins per hire. If banking is enabled the plugin tops up coins to 500+ on each visit; if it's off you'll need to carry enough coins to cover a session.

Wildy chins: auto-hop fires but PKers still find me

Auto-hop is fast but not instantaneous — if a PKer logs in on your exact tile with special-attack gear they can sometimes land a hit. Lower your max chin cap, raise min HP to eat and bring the minimum risk gear that your Wildy loadout requires.

3-tick requested but the plugin isn't 3-ticking

The plugin logs a warning when it can't find the required items. Check: knife + teak/mahogany logs, or pestle + swamp tar (15+) + a clean/grimy Guam/Marrentill/Tarromin/Harralander.

Trap tile on a tree fails repeatedly

Net Traps need a tree at the tile. If the plugin can't find one it skips the tile silently. Move the marked tile next to the tree trunk rather than a branch corner.

Support

Bug reports and feature requests are most useful on Discord — include the method you were running and a copy-paste from the debug console if something misbehaved.
